Debating

About Shenton Debate

The Shenton College debating teams compete in the Western Australian Debating League’s school competition. Central to the art of debating are the core skills of teamwork, critical thinking, creative problem solving, speaking and listening.

The competition runs from Term 1 to Term 3 (if teams progress to finals). Students compete against other surrounding schools every second Tuesday night. Three divisions exist in the competition; Novice (Year 7 and 8), Junior (Year 9 and 10) and Senior (Year 11 and 12). All students at Shenton College willing to commit to coaching, prep and debate nights are welcome to join a debating team.
